Implementation Guidelines

Carenet Community Groups are currently developing technical implementation guidelines for the adoption of GS1 global standards into healthcare organizations' Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. These guidelines will be announced and posted on the website for members use as they become available.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transaction sets

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) version 6020 is the new standard for e-commerce transactions in healthcare. Transaction sets have been and continue to be developed through the working groups of the Canadian Supply Chain Standards Project. 

The Healthcare Technical Standards Work Group has completed the following Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Transaction sets for version 6020:

• Purchase Order (PO)  850
• PO Acknowledgement 855
• Functional Acknowledgement 997
• Price & Sales Catalogue 832
• Invoice transaction 810
• Advance Ship Notice (ASN) 856

EDI versions 4010 and 3010 are still available for use today. The standards are available as PDF files below for downloading.
